Sustainable Agriculture & Food Security

Livelihoods & Economic Empowerment

Training smallholder farmers in climate-smart agricultural practices to improve crop yields, food security, and household incomes.

Project Background

Smallholder farmers in Northern Uganda face declining crop yields due to poor farming practices, soil degradation, and unpredictable weather patterns. This project introduces climate-smart agricultural techniques to help farmers adapt and thrive.

Training Areas

  • Conservation agriculture and soil health management
  • Drought-resistant crop varieties and seed selection
  • Water harvesting and small-scale irrigation techniques
  • Post-harvest handling and storage to reduce losses
  • Market access and cooperative selling strategies

Farmers who have adopted these practices report an average 40% increase in crop yields and significantly reduced post-harvest losses, leading to improved food security and higher incomes from surplus sales.
